Even during the summer, learning doesn’t stop. The Clinton Presidential Center has turned its annual summer programming into “Super Summer Videos,” with fun and informative shows for students and families to enjoy. The online series is comprised of two separate virtual educational tracks: the “Student Chef Series” and “Picture Yourself in the White House.”

Student Chef Series

The “Student Chef Series” features virtual instruction from the award-winning staff at 42 bar and table, the Clinton Center’s on-site restaurant. The video series offers proper culinary and cooking techniques, helpful kitchen tips, favorite recipes and nutritional information for aspiring student chefs of all ages. The video series is led by Executive Chef André Poirot and Mike Selig, Director of Food, Beverage, and Events.

Learn about understanding and respecting your knife and understanding your surroundings in the kitchen.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF KNIVES
Learn about different types of knives we have in the 42 bar and table kitchen, as well as a couple of utensils.

Learn three different types of cuts (Brunoise Cut, Julienne Cut, and Batonnet Cut) and how to make a Flower Garnish.

PICO DE GALLO
Learn to make Pico de Gallo, a healthy recipe to show off all the different cuts you’ve learned.

HOW TO MAKE CHICKEN STOCK
Learn how to break down a chicken and make Chicken Stock.

HOW TO MAKE FISH STOCK
Learn how to beak down a fish and make Fish Stock.

 

INTRODUCTION TO COOKING TECHNIQUES AND LEARN HOW TO GRILL A STEAK

Learn about three cooking techniques: dry cooking, moist cooking, and a combination of the three, as well as how to grill a steak.

LEARN ABOUT BROILING AND INDUSTRIAL KITCHEN EQUIPMENT

Learn how to broil and about various pieces of equipment commonly found in an industrial kitchen.

Picture Yourself in the White House Series

“Picture Yourself in the White House” takes students from the campaign trail to life inside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Each video, designed for third – fifth grade students, features historic context, fun facts and crafts activities. The video series is led by the Clinton Foundation’s Educational Programs Manager Nate Thomas and Kathleen Pate, Education Specialist at the Clinton Presidential Library.
